Ristorante La Castellana

For this weekend in early March your Pioneer of Taste decided to go, along with a merry band of “jokers” in the restaurant “La Castellana”, which is just over 1 km south of Greve in Chianti.

Even the location helps to imagine that the eaten will be the best, in fact, the restaurant is located on the outskirts of Montefioralle, pretty medieval town reached by a narrow road that winds through the hills on the Chianti area.

The restaurant is very welcoming, we enter and we are already in the only room available for the guests; 20/25 will be available in all places, in summer it expands the possibilities of places thanks to a small terrace obtained along the road from the possibility to eat in front of a breathtaking panorama.
The interior of the room is obviously a rustic interior, complete with exposed stone and hams tied on the wooden beams that divide across the small room.
The reception is the best on our arrival, we were invited to enter the restaurant from a very friendly girl, while the more experienced ladies in the kitchen were cooking delicious Tuscan dishes, listening to disco music!
Being good boys so we decided not to go overboard with the food and we had to bring only:
Antipasto della cortigiana, which consisted of cold cuts and some vegetables under oil and vinegar. Afterwards we decided to attack immediately with the meat to take the pulse of the local cuisine and we ordered: 2 T-bone steaks (1.5 kg and 1.1 kg), 2 cut of beef (a rosemary and pepper, the other lard colonnata), mixed grilled vegetables, baked potato with cheese. To conclude the meal we got some dessert (including not one could miss the Cantuccini con Vinsanto) and various clamps (strawberry, mandarin Chinese, etc.) offered strictly from the house.

The restaurant “La Castellana” is strongly recommended for those who love the flavors of traditional Tuscan atmosphere; local, location and managers help ensure that more than one eaten in the restaurant becomes a dinner in family, in fact, manage to join a friendly and professional in an exemplary manner; to crown the day, while we were at the dessert arrived within 5 min a boy and an elderly man who got to play cards while we finished our lunch.

Per questo weekend di inizio marzo il vostro Pioniere del Buongusto ha deciso di recarsi, assieme ad un’allegra brigata di “buontemponi” presso il ristorante “La Castellana”, che si trova a poco più di 1 km direzione sud di Greve in Chianti.

Già la location aiuta ad immaginare che la mangiata sarà delle migliori, infatti il ristorante si trova alle porte di Montefioralle, grazioso borgo medioevale raggiungibile grazie ad una stretta strada che si inerpica su per i colli Chiantigiani.

Il ristorante è molto accogliente, si entra e ci troviamo già nell’unica sala disponibile per i commensali; in tutto saranno disponibili 20/25 coperti, in estate si allarga la possibilità di posti grazie ad una piccola terrazza ricavata lungo strada che da la possibilità di mangiare davanti ad un panorama mozzafiato.
L’interno della sala è ovviamente arredato in stile rustico, con tanto di pietre a vista e prosciutti legati sulle travi di legno che dividono trasversalmente il piccolo locale.

L’accoglienza è delle migliori, al nostro arrivo siamo stati invitati ad entrare da una ragazza molto cordiale, mentre in cucina le più esperte signore stavano cucinando succulenti piatti rigorosamente toscani a tempo di disco music anni ’70!!

Essendo ragazzi a modo, abbiamo deciso di non esagerare con le portate e ci siamo fatti portare solo:
Antipasto della cortigiana, che consisteva in affettati tipici e qualche sott’olio e sott’aceto. A seguire abbiamo deciso di attaccare subito con la carne per tastare il polso della cucina locale ed abbiamo ordinato: 2 bistecche alla fiorentina (1,5kg e 1,1kg), 2 tagliate di manzo (una Rosmarino e pepe, l’altra  Lardo di colonnata), verdure grigliate miste patate al forno con formaggio. Per concludere il pasto abbiamo preso qualche dessert (tra cui non potevano mancare i cantuccini con vin santo) e grappe varie (alla fragola, al mandarino cinese ecc) offerte rigorosamente dalla casa.
Il ristorante “La Castellana” è fortemente consigliato per chi ama i sapori della Toscana e l’atmosfera tradizionale; locale, location e gestori aiutano a far si che più che una mangiata al ristorante diventi una mangiata in famiglia, infatti riescono ad unire cordialità e professionalità in maniera esemplare; a coronare la giornata, mentre noi eravamo al dessert sono arrivati nell’arco di 5 min un ragazzo ed un signore anziano che si sono messi a giocare a carte mentre noi finivamo il pranzo.
