Il Carbonile

Welcome back my friends,
today i would like introduce the last restaurant i taste for you, “il Carbonile”, sited in Pistoia (Tuscany).
This restaurant is focalized to offer you bio and km 0 food, that thing give the best flavors of the italian dishes.
Every day “Il Carbonile” offer the dishes of the day, based on the fresh ingredients of the season.
Today a I tasted for you “sliced beef with porcini” and creamed potatoes … very very good!
It was possibile to take also “Tagliolini (fresh pasta) ai porcini”, but was not possibile for me to eat that!
The service was perfect and the ambient was very nice, with a good mix between classic and modern furnishing.
The price is high, is not a good place if you want eat so much and spend few money … but if you’re looking for an exclusive restaurant and you are around Pistoia, I advice this one.

L’Osteria di Santa Marina

November 2014

here we are … today i would like to introduce Osteria Santa Marina, an amazing place located in Venice.
Some friends of mine and I, including “Il Gianni”, have decided to visit the wonderful city of Venice, and dinner at the Osteria Santa Marina.
The restaurant is very nice, with classic style interior design, cozy and lovely. The staff has been friendly and we were put at ease immediately, demonstrating professionalism and friendliness. Thanks to chef Agostino we opted for the menu “degustazione”, a huge selection of several dishes.
We started with 2 appetizer, 2 first courses, and 1 second course:
scallops; tuna tartare, egg and truffle; Fish and chips (not the classic one); chestnut ravioli with shrimp … and many other! if I think about it I feel like to go back!!
A special dessert to finish the dinner and everything accompanied with a good white wine!
What i can say anymore, if you are in Venice and you want to dine very well, you must visit this Osteria!
The price was high, i must say that, but not to much for what you eat, considering the special service you have received in a terrific situation.

Osteria “Il Ritrovino”

July 2014
weekend of relaxation in the beautiful Val D’Orcia, near Siena. Apart from the fact that these areas are wonderful to visit and that of restaurants and diners you will find are good, I’m going to tell you about the brief experience at Osteria “Il Ritrovino”, located in the historic center of Castiglione D’Orcia (Siena) .
L’Osteria is run by two young boys that give a professional and warm welcome to their guests with traditional dishes of Tuscany. We tasted the “Pici”, is a typical italian pasta used for local dishes, and I have to say that they were well executed. We also taste a “tagliata di manzo” on a plate of arugula, which is also very good and all washed down with the excellent red wine.
I will not elaborate too much on this Osteria, also because, as a result of the labors of the day, it was a very quick dinner. Surely I can advise you on the excellent value for money, for the kindness of the owners and especially because i recommend you a dinner in Castiglione D’Orcia, given the beauty of the medieval Tuscan village!

Ristorante Cortefreda

2014 June 28, we started the day visiting the new “Cantina Antinori”, located in Bargino (between Firenze and Tavarnelle), i don’t want talk about this, but if you have the possibility, go to visit this wonderful place.
After visiting the Cantina Antinori, we went to lunch to Ristorante Cortefreda, located in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa. The restaurant is a part of “Borgo Cortefreda”, agriturismo of high value who can give you the possibility to spend a fantastic holiday in relax. Anyway, let’s talk about the lunch!
The table where we eat was in the garden under a pergola. We started the lunch with some appetizers: Carpaccio di manzo al tartufo (beef carpaccio with truffle), formaggio fritto con tartufo (fried cheese with truffle) and other truffle speciality … just one word: FANTASTIC.
After this, someone took pasta with truffle and someone (including myself) filetto di manzo con tartufo (beef fillet with truffle). Yes it’s true, we eat a lot of truffle, but it was recommended by the chef!
To end the lunch we took a dessert, who was good as the rest!
You will be asking: you didn’t drink anything? yes we drank and we drank 4 super bottles of Super Tuscan wine. I must say that into the restaurant there is a small wine cellar full of good bottles of wine and where I suggest you to eat and celebrate lovely time (birthday, anniversary) for a few people with a personal service!
Beyond the red wine, at the end we tasted Cognac and Moscato, drank with the dessert. The cognac was very good.
We spent 3 hours around the table, first because the foods and wines was good…all in an amazing place! i have to spend special and truly words for the waiter who served us, very professional and ready to explain all of the dishes and match them with great wine!
At the end, i want to thank Max (the restaurant manager) for accomodation!!, He is a very kind, who manages his team at the best!!

CUCINERIA “La Mattonaia”

2014 June
A spring night spent in Florence, after a drink on the Arno river, me and some friend decided to go into “Cucineria La Mattonaia”. This cute Italian Restaurant it’s pretty new and well furnished, it’s famous to make good fish dishes, and I must say that this is true!
I start the dinner eating “Spadellata di Cozze e Vongole”, it means a big dish with mussel and clam … VERY GOOD!!!
After that, I taste Spaghetti with shrimp and mussel … also this very good! My friends try other kind of crudités of fish and a selection of octopus and was good!
At the end we eat a dessert, but we are full … so is impossible for us to enjoy the cake!
The restaurant is on the board of the Florence center, and near a underground parking, so it’s easy to go there and after the dinner will be easy for you to make a round in the center of Florence before to go bed!

Il Ristoro di Frate Cipolla

2013 December
A sunny day in Pisa, we are with some friend to visit the Andy Warhol exposition. Before visit the exposition we decided to eat something, and casually we find “Il Ristoro di Frate Cipolla”, hidden in a little street in the center town of Pisa.
The ambient was very cute and the service was very kind.
We taste a different type of pasta with some bottle of good wine and i must say that the cooking was perfect, not banal. it’s seems to eat at the grandmother home!!
During the lunch we spent some words with the chief of the restaurant and we discover that in the past he designed cartoon for the television, and that the restaurant was the second passion of his life.
I do not know many restaurants in Pisa, but if you’re around this zone, i advice to try this one.

Caffè Propaganda

2013 December
a night spent in Rome with some friends, and i must say that anytime i came in Rome is always wonderful.
after a day of work, we decided to go to “Caffè Propaganda” to dinner. The local is very beautiful, made by an architect that used recycled stuff to furnish the restaurant.
Inside you can order a wide choice of food, from the hamburger to the tenderloin; the various types of pasta are equally good. everything is accompanied by a good selection of wines of unquestionable quality.
Another thing to be reckoned with, is the fact that the restaurant is located very close to the Colosseum, then after the meal you can take a romantic stroll around the walls of one of the most beautiful architectural works of the past.

Taverna La Cialoma

August 2013, sicily, lunch time, after a morning boat, there’s nothing better than a good lunch looking the sea on a fantastic wooden terrace, eating good fish and drinkg cold white wine!!
You can find all of this at Taverna La Cialoma in Marzamemi. We spent 3 hours at the table, in good company and enjoying a beautiful place!
The staff is young and kind, and will advise you in the best way. the price is right for what do you eat.

BVEG (great selection of italian microbreweries)

A good restaurant for anyone who love vegetarian food. It’s placed in the center of the city of Florence, then, after eat, it’s pretty good to make a tour of Florence by night.
When i was there i take different kind of food and i’ve to say that everything was very good (i’m not vegetarian!).
The restaurant it’s very nice and cosy, it’s seems to eat at your home and the staff was very kind with us.
Another good thing of the restaurant it’s that the chief it’s a lover of craft beers, then if you like that, it’s another good reason to go there.
